(LifeSiteNews) — Candace Owens has released alleged personal messages from the late Charlie Kirk which show a growing interest in the Catholic Church.
In one of the messages, Kirk stated that “Catholicism is looking better and better.” Owens said Kirk sent her the message in February 2024 during private conversations about theology and the political use of the term “Judeo-Christian.”

She described the remark as part of an ongoing exchange between friends, adding that she never claimed Kirk had converted or was preparing to do so. “Charlie was going through some spiritual changes towards the end,” she said.
Owens said that Kirk “was not attending Pastor Rob McCoy’s church,” but was rather attending Mass weekly and sometimes even more.
Owens also drew attention to the St. Michael pendant Kirk was wearing when he died. She added that his widow, Erika, brought a bishop to pray over his body afterward, and had previously brought a priest to their home to pray after a reported occult threat.

He had also spoken positively about the importance of Our Lady, presenting her as the “solution to toxic feminism” and calling for evangelicals to venerate her more.

However, while noting that Catholics “were hoping that he’d take the next step because he was praying the Rosary,” Owens insisted that Kirk had not decided to convert, and that she had never claimed otherwise.
The disclosure comes amid ongoing disputes over Kirk’s spiritual life and legacy following his assassination in September. Alex Clark and TPUSA’s Andrew Kolvette had recently discussed Kirk’s interest in Catholicism, framing it as aesthetic rather than theological.
“Was he becoming Catholic? No,” said Kolvette, Kirk’s producer and close friend. “But he really loved Catholic Mass. He loved the ritual of it. He loved the beauty of old Catholic churches and the stained glass. And him and Erika would go sometimes.”
“It registered to me like a cover-up of sorts,” Owens said of this conversation, questioning why figures close to Kirk had been quick to assert that he was not moving toward Catholicism.
“I was a bit astonished,” Owens said, calling the way they talked about the subject an “inauthentic attempt to dissuade the idea that Charlie was softening on Catholicism.”
Kirk’s religious views have become a flashpoint in the broader struggle over his legacy, with internal Turning Point figures, media commentators, and Owens offering differing accounts of his private positions on matters of faith, as well as his purported tensions with donors and politicians over Israel.
