YouVersion identified Isaiah 41:10 as its most engaged-with Bible verse of 2025, marking the fourth time in six years the passage has taken the top spot. The announcement comes as the Bible app platform reports its highest-ever levels of global Scripture engagement, driven in part by the first Global Bible Month held in November.
“I think this verse keeps rising to the top because it addresses one of our deepest needs, the assurance that we’re not alone,” said Bobby Gruenewald, Founder and CEO of YouVersion. “In a world full of anxiety and uncertainty, people are drawn to God’s promise to be with us, to strengthen us, and to help us. That message never gets old because the need for it is universal and timeless.”
Pointing to the historic numbers last month, the organization said that every Sunday in November ranked among its biggest days on record, with Nov. 2 becoming the largest single day of Bible engagement in YouVersion’s history. On the first Sunday of the month, more than 19 million people opened the app, setting an all-time daily record.
More than 2.6 million people participated in the platform’s 30-Day Bible Challenge during Global Bible Month, leading to a 19% year-over-year increase in daily Bible use compared with November 2024. YouVersion said the sustained participation through the month indicates users are forming long-term Scripture-reading habits rather than responding to a short-term campaign.
The surge capped a year of consistent growth across YouVersion’s Family of Apps. On Jan. 1, more than 3 million people subscribed to one-year Bible reading plans, an 18% increase over the previous year. Record engagement followed on Jan. 5, which became the platform’s biggest day ever for installs and Bible interaction until Easter Sunday surpassed it. Holy Week also produced peak use of features such as Guided Scripture, Prayers created, and verses shared.
YouVersion said an unusual pattern emerged in the second half of the year, when weekly engagement typically declines. Instead, every Sunday from late August through November ranked among the highest in the app’s history.
Founder and CEO Bobby Gruenewald attributed the trend to widespread spiritual searching. “We’re witnessing a global movement,” he said in a statement. “People are hungry for what’s real and true… These numbers represent millions of changed lives.”
Globally, daily Bible engagement rose across every region. Sub-Saharan Africa saw a 27% increase, and North Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia recorded a combined 33% increase. North America, YouVersion’s largest user base, grew by 14%.
Search patterns on the app reflected major concerns among users, with “love,” “anxiety” and “peace” ranking among the most commonly searched terms. Following Isaiah 41:10, the platform’s top verses included Jeremiah 29:11 and Romans 12:2.
On an average second in 2025, users completed 40 Bible Plan days and highlighted, bookmarked or noted 112 Bible verses, the organization said.
Founded by Life.Church, YouVersion reports more than one billion installs across its Bible App, Bible App Lite and Bible App for Kids. The apps provide Scripture access in more than 2,300 languages and are designed to encourage daily Bible engagement across technological and cultural contexts.
