Today's Devotion:
"IMMEDIATE CONTINUAL ACCESS"

Two 5-year-old girls were talking.

One asked, "What is that big cup
your dad keeps putting up to his
mouth?"

The other answered, "Oh! That is
a sippy cup for adults."

____SCRIPTURE_______

Eph 2:18
For through Him we both have
access by one Spirit unto the
Father.
KJV

____THOUGHT_________

When a person surrenders to Christ
as Lord, he/she is "justified freely by
His grace through the redemption
that is IN CHRIST." (Rom. 3:24)

Therefore, those who have received
Christ, can "..come boldly unto the
throne of grace, that we may obtain
mercy, and find grace to help in
time of need." (Heb. 4:16)

When Jesus died on that cross, His
Spirit, God's Spirit, flew through the
temple and SPLIT the veil of
separation!!

And, being "in Christ," we have His
Spirit by Whom we can call on God
at ANY time!

Eph. 2:22 says, "IN WHOM ye also
are builded together for an
habitation of God through the Spirit."

The saved sinner is no longer
estranged from God, but has
become "fellowcitizens with the
saints, and of the household of God!"
(Eph. 2:19)

Christian, you have IMMEDIATE,
CONTINUAL ACCESS to God
THROUGH Christ Jesus!

God is SO GRACIOUS!

Love ya!

An excerpt from my commentary on
    Philippians 4 --

    Vss 6-7
6 Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication
with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
7 And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep
your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Any approach to God in prayer should be coupled with thanksgiving
    and supplication (pleading).

The words "Be careful" are taken from the Greek merimnao.
    It means to be overanxious.
This does not imply that we should not be concerned about the affairs
in the world, our country or even in our work and personal lives.
What it DOES imply is that we should have such communion with
and confidence in our Lord that we don't resort to hair-pulling worry.

When there seems to be no WAY, rely on the WAYMAKER JESUS!

The RESULT of constant contact with our Lord, and true confidence in
Him guiding our lives, is to have "..the peace of God, which passeth
    all understanding."

It was because of these verses, that my heart was at peace when
    cancer invaded my body.
    I didn't, and still don't, UNDERSTAND why there was such peace;
but it was THERE, and STILL IS there!
I DO know that one reason is channeling thinking in right places.
And, that is what Paul says next.

    Vs 8
Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are
honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure,
    whatsoever things are lovely, whatsover things are of good report;
if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

When there is trouble in our home, work, country or world, we can
THINK about the things that are GOOD, NOBLE, TRUE.
This aids us in giving thanks to God for His love, mercy and grace.
And, it will aid us in being more confident in Christ and at ease in
our spirit - even in times of extreme difficulty.

      Today's Devotion:
      "IMPERFECT DISCIPLES"

      Mistakes are part of life.
      We forget names, send emails
to the wrong person, or trip over
nothing in front of a crowd.

      Our natural reaction is
      embarrassment, frustration, or
      even self-criticism.

But God invites us to see these
      moments differently.

      Laughter doesn't mean we
do not care; it means we trust
      God more than our pride.

      ____SCRIPTURE_______

      Prov. 17:22
A merry heart doeth good like
a medicine: but a broken spirit
      drieth the bones.
      KJV

      ____THOUGHT_________

      Jesus probably never tripped over
      His sandals, but He understood
      human weakness.

      He called imperfect disciples,
      knowing they would fail.
      Peter sank, Thomas doubted, and
      yet God still used them.

Our blunders do not define us; they
remind us of our need for grace!

      Sometimes, the best response is
      to laugh and keep going.

      God does not expect perfection,
      He looks for TRYING!
If we learn to laugh at ourselves,
      we'll find more freedom.

      Instead of carrying shame,
we can embrace humility with a
      smile, knowing God's grace covers
      even our funniest failures.

Our failures shouldn't be a STOP
in the road - just a little BUMP.

Lord, when I am teaching, and I get
my tang tonguelled up; help me to
      laugh and keep on going.

      Love ya!

        Today's Devotion:
        "Be INVENTIVE"

        Dad answered the door bell.

A man was asking donations for a new
        public swimming pool.

Dad said, "Ok. Just a minute."

When he returned, he gave the man a
        solo cup filled with water.
        ___SCRIPTURE____

        Mark 2:1-4
1 And again he entered into Capernaum,
after some days; and it was noised that
        he was in the house.
2 And straightway many were gathered
together, insomuch that there was no
        room to receive them, no,
not so much as about the door: and he
        preached the word unto them.
3 And they come unto him, bringing one
sick of the palsy, which was borne of four.
4 And when they could not come nigh
unto him for the press, they uncovered
        the roof where he was:
and when they had broken it up, they let
down the bed wherein the sick of the
        palsy lay.
        KJV

        ___THOUGHT____

These men considered it a necessity
to get their friend to Jesus.
The door was blocked with people.
        The place was packed.

Being INVENTIVE, the men found a
way to get their friend in the house.

These men didn't ask if their friend
        would BELIEVE Jesus.
Neither did they balk at the fact he
        might REJECT Jesus.
They just brought their friend, and let
        HIM decide!

        If we genuinely believe Jesus;
        If we truly believe people need Jesus;
Then let us be inventive enough to
        introduce our friends to Jesus!

        Let them believe and receive,
        or let them reject.
But, at least find a way to introduce them to Jesus so they can make a decision.

        Love ya!

          Today's Devotion:
          "BE NOT FORGETFUL"

A man entered the sanctuary just as
          the pastor began the sermon.

Finally, after 45 minutes of dry
          theology, the benediction was
          given in formal, rehearsed tone.

A nice lady went to speak to the
stanger who had come in late.
          She said, "WELCOME! So glad
you came to visit us. I'm
          Gladys Over."

The man looked intently at her and
said, "Lady, I'm glad its over too!"

          ____SCRIPTURE_______

          Heb. 13:2
          Be not forgetful to entertain
          strangers: for thereby some have
          entertained angels unawares.
          KJV

          ____THOUGHT_________

One of the greatest blessings OF
visiting a church is when the members
          are very hospitable.

Also, one of the greatest blessings TO
the church is when each member is
very hospitable to strangers who visit.

One of the greatest joys of life is
meeting a stranger who is very
          open and joyful.

Also, one of the greatest joys of life is
to BE that stranger who is open and
          joyful.

A warm smile and a "thank you for
visiting us, we hope you will come
to visit again," is one of the surest
ways to add new members to the
          church.

          BE NOT FOREGETFUL, to
entertain others in a manner by
which YOU would like to be
          welcomed!

One of the most important people
in the church is the one who is a
          "doorkeeper" welcoming people
          as they enter.

            Today's Devotion:
            "SEEKING VOLUNTEERS"

            During the announcments, the pastor
            asked for volunteers for visitation.
He said, "The sign-up sheet is in the
            foyer."

After the service, the pastor excitedly
went to retrieve the sign-up sheet.

He was met with a blank.

            ____SCRIPTURE_______

            Is 6:8
Also I heard the voice of the Lord,
saying, Whom shall I send, and
            who will go for us?
Then said I, Here am I; send me.
            KJV

            ____THOUGHT_________

            Sometimes, requesting volunteers
In the church can be met with
yawns, and a sudden interest in
            shoewear!

Seems most folk are AFRAID of
            visitation evening!

            The "what if" questions often
pop up in people's minds, and
distract from the real JOB that
            is most important.

            God is ALWAYS asking for
            volunteers!

            Which evening, or Saturday do
YOU  visit with people in your
            area?

            Notice Isaiah's response to God's
question - "Here am I, send ME!"

            Active individual and personal
            visitation actually builds
            membership!

Do we REALLY want to see the
            people in the neighborhood get
to know Jesus as Lord and Savior?

"WHOM shall I SEND, and WHO
            will GO for us?"

                Today's Devotion:
                "CHANGES"

                As the universe gets OLDER,
                it also gets LARGER.

                So do I!
                And, that's my excuse!

                ____SCRIPTURE_______

                Is 43:19
                Behold, I am doing a new thing;
now it springs forth, do you
                not perceive it?
                KJV

                ____THOUGHT_________

The word of God recorded by
                Isaiah reflects CHANGES.

                That's usually something which
                we RESIST!

                When change meets resistance,
                we usually hear statements like:
"We've never done it this way
                BEFORE," or,
"THAT'S not the way we have
                traditionally done things."

However, if the church is fulfilling
                its Biblical PURPOSE, then the
                church will grow LARGER!

And, THAT makes the church NEED
                changes!
Holding to tradition can BLIND us!

                Sometimes, "sacred cows" just need
                a spiritual barbecue!

                Admittedly, there are some changes
that do NOT need to be made.

When God created (Heb. bara'), the
universe, He created for CREATING -
                conitnuous work!

                When God created the CHURCH,
                He ALSO created for CREATING.

                Matt. 28:18-20 is a
                COMMANDING COMMISSION!
                GO, TEACH, BAPTIZE, TEACH
                AGAIN!

                YOU, ME, EVERY CHRISTIAN
                should PERCEIVE and EMBRACE
                those continuous CHANGES!

Boy: But you took my cell phone!

                        Col. 1:26-27
                        26 Even the mystery which
hath been hid from ages and
                        from generations, but now is
                        made manifest to his saints:
27 To whom God would make
known what is the riches of
                        the glory of this mystery
                        among the Gentiles; which is
Christ in you, the hope of glory:
                        KJV
                        THOUGHT

By His grace, and your surrender
to Him as Lord of your life,
Christ provides you to be "holy and
                        unblameable and
                        unreproveable in His sight!"

                        What a GRACIOUS, MARVELOUS
                        SAVIOR!!

                        We cannot negate Rom. 6:23,
                        which says, "For ALL HAVE
SINNED, and come short of the
                        glory of God!"

That verse is in the PRESENT
                        PERFECT tense, meaning we
are ALL sinners ALL the time!
                        THAT'S why we must CONFESS
our sin EVERY day, and beg
                        God's forgiveness through what
                        Christ ACCOMPLISHED for us!

                        THEN, God can KEEP ON
                        CLEANSING us!! (1John 1:9)

THIS was the "mystery" that was
                        "hid from the ages!"

                        HOWEVER, it is NOW "made

Once I was visiting with a friend of mine who was an Economics Professor in the university I attended. We were in his office, and I noticed the final test key on his desk.
When I looked at it for a few moments, I said, "Hey! These are the same questions you asked us when I was in your class. Aren't you afraid someone will copy and sell the answers?"

He said, "No, not really. You see in Economics, the answers CHANGE!

31 It is like a grain of mustard seed , which, when it is sown in the earth, is less than all the seeds that be in the earth:
32 But when it is sown, it groweth up, and becometh greater than all herbs, and shooteth out great branches; so that the fowls of the air may lodge under the shadow of it.

In the Bible, the answers DO NOT change!

The example of the mustard seed is a tremendous example of the truth and power of God's Word.
If one plants a mustard seed, one ALWAYS gets a mustard plant!

There are several varieties of the mustard which begin with a tiny small seed and grow to be a "tree."

Jesus "liken(s)" the kingdom of God to this plant.

Jesus is THE "seed" which produced the kingdom of God's inception in the world.
Within 3and1/2 years from the time He began to preach, Jesus had grown a ministry of people which continued to grow, and has never died.
He is the "seed of truth," and He planted that seed of truth in His disciples.

                          God's truths never die!

The seed of truth Jesus planted is the "Word of God."
That seed is ALWAYS the same.
When you plant the truth of the WORD, it will always produce truth which endures.

Let's go plant some more seeds!
                          Let's go plant JESUS!

PRAISE GOD, it is by grace I am
justified through faith in Jesus Christ!
His grace first called me, convicted
me, and compelled me to confess

PRAISE GOD, by that same grace,
I am KEPT by the power of God!
It is in His grace that I “stand,”
                            and live!
Therefore, I can “rejoice in hope
                            of the glory of God!”

PRAISE GOD, by the grace of Christ,

                            His mercy seat!

Too often, we Christians allow the
things of the world to distract us
                            from this wonderful grace.

                            PRAISE GOD, His grace expresses
                            His love.
And, when we are “in Christ,” we
can NEVER be separated from His
                            love (Rom. 8:38-39)!

One blessed day, God will change
our bodies and make them like Christ.

For Jesus Himself said, "because I
live, ye shall live also." (John 14:19)

Then, the manner in which He lives
shall also be the manner in which we
                              live.

What a glorious day that will be!!

For the truly saved, the change is
                              even beginning today.

As we constantly look toward Christ
our Lord, He first changes our
                              DESIRES.
                              And when desires change, then
                              ACTIONS begin to change.

                              The WONDER of change in
                              personal thoughts, speech and
                              actions is:

                              GLORY!" (Col. 1:27)

                              LET Christ WORK the WONDER

                                "LAUGHING at OLD Things"

Last Saturday I had the joy of
                                playing in a golf scramble
                                tournament with a lot of
                                Christian friends.

                                I remembered a small LESSON
a golfing friend had taught me:
                                "WATCH THE GHOST!"

So I shared the lesson with the
                                other men.

                                Putting requires lining up with
the contour of the ground and
allowing the putt to follow the
                                ground to the hole.

                                To be accurate, one must
                                CONTINUE to look where the
ball WAS - AFTER you have
                                putted it.
                                AND, you will "WATCH the
                                GHOST!"

                                That assures a straighter
                                trajectory to the hole, because
                                you don't FOLLOW the ball
                                with your head and shoulders.

                                Have you ever felt sorrow
like the waves of the ocean
                                beating relentlessly upon the
                                beach?

                                BUT AFTER that sorrow, one
                                can experience JOY!

Look back at the OLD things,
                                and realize God causes the
JOY to come in the MORNING
                                after!

                                  "FAILURE should MOTIVATE"

The deputy saw a car driving on
a one-way street the wrong way.

As he pulled the car over, he
noticed a sign on the back
                                  window.
"My child made the honor roll."

                                  Rom. 3:20
Therefore by the deeds of the
law there shall no flesh be
justified in his sight: for by the
law is the knowledge of sin.

                                  _______THOUGHT_________

                                  The Old Testament law was
                                  meant to be an educational
                                  system with the primary focus
                                  on motivation to SURRENDER
                                  to God's GRACE!

                                  That was a system that
                                  POINTED sin OUT!

                                  God's design was to
                                  MOTIVATE
                                  people to RELY upon HIM!

                                  EVERY sacrifice pointed to
                                  human FAILURE, yet also
                                  pointed to God's wonderful
                                  FORGIVENESS!

                                  By pointing to the knowledge
of sin, God intended to build
                                  a bridge from man's failure
                                  to dependence upon HIM!

And that is why God came in
the Person of Jesus to DIE
                                  as the ONLY perfect
                                  sacrifice for our sins!
                                  (Rom. 5:8)

                                  The ONLY way to become
righteous in God's sight is to
                                  surrender to Jesus Christ as
                                  LORD of our lives!
                                  HE is the FULFILLMENT of
                                  the law for our sake!

                                  The law is our EDUCATOR
                                  and Jesus is our
                                  GRADUATION!

                                  Let the FAILURES of your
                                  life MOTIVATE you to live
                                  IN CHRIST and FOR Him!

                                  Love ya!
