Today's Devotion:
"FOUNDATIONS"

"If you have built castles in the air, your
work need not be lost; that is where they
should be. Now put the foundations
under them."
(Henry David Thoreau, Walden or,
Life in the Woods)

_______SCRIPTURE____________

Ps. 17:4-9
4 Concerning the works of men, by the word
of thy lips I have kept me from the paths of
the destroyer.
5 Hold up my goings in thy paths, that my
footsteps slip not.
6 I have called upon thee, for thou wilt hear me, O God: incline thine ear unto me, and hear my speech.
7 Shew thy marvellous lovingkindness, O thou
that savest by thy right hand them which put
their trust in thee from those that rise up against them.
8 Keep me as the apple of the eye, hide me
under the shadow of thy wings,
9 From the wicked that oppress me, from my
deadly enemies, who compass me about.
KJV

_______THOUGHT______________

The "destroyer" (verse 4) is sin.
Sin destroys a life.

Obviously David was not totally free from sin,
for we read of his life and his sins.
But David's DESIRE was to follow God's Word
in acts of righteousness as much as he could.

THAT constitutes the DESIRE of the Christian!

Since we cannot do this on our own, we must
call upon God to help (verse 5).
THAT is the FOUNDATION that builds the
castle in the air!

Only God can keep us from the ways of evil;
and only God can protect us from those who
would oppress us with evil (verse 9).

When it seems as though evil SURROUNDS
us; and seeks to DESTROY moral truths,
Let us remember the FOUNDATIONS!
PRAYER and BIBLE STUDY!

THOSE TWO will KEEP us as "the apple
of the eye" is kept!

Love ya!

    Today's Devotion:
    "LIBERTY or Govenment Control"

One who wears two watches is
    constantly assuring self because
    of insecurity.

    _______SCRIPTURE____________

    Acts 4:19-20
19 But Peter and John answered and said
unto them, Whether it be right in the sight
of God to hearken unto you more than
    unto God, judge ye.
20 For we cannot but speak the things
which we have seen and heard.
    KJV

    _______THOUGHT______________

The high priest and Caiaphas... and several
others were gathered as a "council."
Peter and John had been the channel
through which God had healed a man who
was lame from the day of his birth.

The council called Peter and John and
asked "by what NAME, have ye done this?
    (Acts 4:7)

Peter explained it was the "Name of Jesus
Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified."
    (Acts 4:10)

Then the council threatened them and told
them not to speak or teach of Jesus anymore!
    (Acts 4:17)

Peter answered, Acts 4 vss 19-20 the text for
    today.

Liberty to speak freely, in the USA, is granted
by the FIRST amendment to the Constitution.
    Also, the FIRST amendment guarantees
freedom of religion, and declares there can be
    no State established religion.

In other words, speaking of Christ CANNOT
be denied; and having a religious conviction
of Christ as Lord cannot be denied.

Freedom of religion is a gift from GOD, NOT
    from the Government!

Freedom to SPEAK for Christ is COMMANDED
by Christ (Matt. 28:18-20, Acts 1:8)

    To whom is your ALLEGIANCE?!

      Today's Devotion:
      "He SHALL SAVE His People"

Do you know which Bible character had
      no parents?
Oshea, son of Nun (Num. 13:8)

      _______SCRIPTURE____________

      Matt. 1:21
And she shall bring forth a son, and thou
shalt call his name JESUS: for he shall
save his people from their sins.
      KJV

      _______THOUGHT______________

After Num. 13:8, in the little joke above,
Moses called Oshea, Jehoshua. (Num. 13:16)

Now Oshea means "he will save."
Jehoshua means Jehovah will save by him.

Now contrast that with the Greek JESUS,
which means by HIMSELF He "shall save
      His people!"

A little grammar lesson may help here.
Contrasting the terms "shall" with "will."
Shall and will both indicate the future, but will
is common for general future actions and
intent, while shall is more formal, often signalingobligation or command.

      For instance...
Mom told her son to take out the garbage.
      He said, "I will later."
She returned, "You SHALL take it out NOW!"

JESUS is also THE CHRIST; or, the ONLY
anointed One of God to save people from
      the condemnation of sin!!

WILL you surrender to Him, or
      SHALL you surrender to Him?

      Remember: SHALL indicates NOW!
AND, it is a COMMAND...there is NO OTHER
way to be saved but through surrender to
      Jesus as Lord!

The "people" whom Jesus SHALL save are
      those who SURRENDER to Him!

        Today's Devotion:
"HUMBLE and WILLING To Be USED"

I remember when Ann and I were building
        a two-story house.

Dad came over and asked, "How can I help?"

I knew the stairs were going to be a
problem for me, so I asked if he could
        take care of that.

He said, "I'll be back tomorrow."

Next day he showed up with a truck
        full of lumber.

He had the stairs done in about 3
        hours!

        _______SCRIPTURE____________

        Ps 16:1-3
1 Mich'-tam of David. Preserve me, O God:
for in thee do I put my trust.
2 O my soul, thou hast said unto the LORD,
Thou art my Lord: my goodness extendeth
        not to thee;
3 But to the saints that are in the earth, and
to the excellent, in whom is all my delight.
        KJV

        _______THOUGHT______________

Does the world ever slap you in the face?
Do you ever run into a problem you cannot
        handle?

I love what David says to start:
        "PRESERVE me!"

He put ALL his trust in God to KEEP him!

David also says (vs 2), my "goodness" is
not good enough for You, Lord.
That is because God is perfect, and we
know that we can measure up to perfection.

But then, he says, I DO love being with
the "saints," for they are "excellent," and
        I "delight" in them!

Perhaps the thought of the former is:
We are not as good as God; but,
we can help with His people.

        Christians are not perfect.
But, we can be OF USE in the world!

Call on Father God to PRESERVE you!

Let us be HUMBLE before God, and
        WILLING to be USED.

        Love ya!

          Today's Devotion:
          "A GREAT PROMISE"

          Genie: You have 3 wishes.

Me: I've seen this before. Whatever I wish
for will come back and bite me in some way.

Genie: I PROMISE that won't happen. I'm so
sure it won't I'll give you infinite wishes if it does.

Me: Okay. I wish for a boomerang with teeth.

          _______SCRIPTURE____________

          1Thess. 5:9-10
9 For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but
to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ.
10 Who died for us, that, whether we wake or
sleep, we should live together with Him.
          KJV

          _______THOUGHT______________

The pronoun "Who" in verse 10 refers back to
"our Lord Jesus Christ" in verse 9.

In His death, burial, and resurrection, Jesus
          has provided a GREAT PROMISE!

The words "wake" and "sleep" mean whether
we (Christians) are ALIVE or DEAD physically!

There is a realization in the Christian that
if we are alive or dead physically, we SHALL
          "live TOGETHER with HIM!"

Therefore, there should be no DIFFERENCE
from being dead IN Christ, and LIVING with
          Christ!

2Cor. 5:5 says, "Now he that hath wrought us
for the selfsame thing is God, who also hath
given unto us the earnest of the Spirit."

As Christians, we should realize that being
dead physically IN Christ, we will be "absent
from the body, and present with the Lord."
          (2Cor. 5:8)

It follows then, that Christians should be
"together with HIM" if we are ALIVE in the
          body!!

We should live DAILY with Jesus as the
          CENTER of our lives!

          God PROMISED it!
          Let us LIVE it!

          Love ya!

            "ONE VOICE"

            Produced by
            BRUCE MCGEE MINISTRIES

"One voice crying in the wilderness
            One voice proclaiming righteousness
One man doing what He is called to do
            One man faithful and true."
            (Squire Parsons, "One Voice")

            _______SCRIPTURE____________

            Is. 40:3-5
3 The voice of him that crieth in the wilderness,
Prepare ye the way of the LORD, make straight
in the desert a highway for our God.
4 Every valley shall be exalted, and every
mountain and hill shall be made low: and the
crooked shall be made straight, and the rough
            places plain:
5 And the glory of the LORD shall be revealed,
and all flesh shall see it together: for the mouth of the LORD hath spoken it.
            KJ
            _______THOUGHT______________

Isaiah is speaking as one man who is a lone voicethat "crieth in the wilderness" of sinfulness.

It is the cry of God speaking through a willing
            witness!

God promises that the world will hear the witness of the coming of Messiah until He DOES come and establish righteousness in the world.
            (Malachi 3:1).

The "voice" of that witness is characterized here as a solitary voice calling out loudly, proclaiming boldly the coming of GOD HIMSELF (verse 3).

The prophecy was written during the time of
the life of Isaiah (597BC to 538BC).
John the Baptist fulfilled that prophecy in part.

Today, that voice is the faithful of God's people who give testimony to the fact that one day Jesus will come again and make the ways of man "straight."
God Himself will be revealed in His glory (verse 5).
And men will look upon Him.

It IS accomplished, we are only waiting for the
            fulfillment of that second appearance!

Christians, let US be as ONE VOICE "crying in
            the wilderness of sin" TODAY!

              Today's Devotion:
              "NOT HIDDEN"

Mom was having trouble with little Bill.
He kept going into the kitchen and
taking cookies from the jar on the
              counter.

She said, "Bill, don't you know that
              God SEES you?"

Next day, she found him under the
              table in the dining room.
              You guessed it!
              He was eating cookies again.

Before she could say anything, Bill
said, "Mom! God cannot see me
              now, I'm under the table!"

              _______SCRIPTURE____________

              Is. 40:27-29
27 Why sayest thou, O Jacob, and speakest,
O Israel, My way is hid from the LORD, and
my judgment is passed over from my God?
28 Hast thou not known? hast thou not heard,
that the everlasting God, the LORD, the
Creator of the ends of the earth, fainteth not,
neither is weary? there is no searching of his
              understanding.
29 He giveth power to the faint; and to them
that have no might he increaseth strength.
              KJV

              _______THOUGHT______________

There is NOTHING that can be "HID" from
              God!
              He even knows our THOUGHTS!
              (See Luke 5:22, Luke 6:8, & Luke 11:17)

God is never TIRED, nor does He SLEEP!

We are ALL WEAK from our SIN!
For we have ALL failed in SEEKING God!

              KNOWING this, God exhibits COMPASSION!
              He DESIRES to grant SALVATION!

So, to those who are weak, He gives:
              POWER and STRENGTH!

When we cry out to God in contrition and
ask His forgiveness, He GRANTS it!

Don't try to HIDE from God; it is IMPOSSIBLE!

But CONFESS your sin and your NEED for
God; and, He will grant salvation!
1John 1:9 says, "If we confess our sins, He
is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and
to cleanse us from all unrighteousness."

"PRAYER is Toward the POWER of GOD"

Much KNEELING puts on in good STANDING
                    with the Lord.

A stranger to PRAYER is a stranger to the
                    POWER of God!

Seven days without prayer makes one WEAK!

                    _______SCRIPTURE____________

                    2Thess. 3:1-2
1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word
of the Lord may have free course, and be
glorified, even as it is with you:
2 And that we may be delivered from
unreasonable and wicked men: for all men
                    have not faith.
                    KJV

                    _______THOUGHT______________

Many of our brothers and sisters in Christ
are "imprisoned" by having too many
                    things to do.

Particularly, in America, it is so easy for Christians to be involved in WORKING, or PLAYING so that there is not enough time for PRAYING and STAYING.

And the devil particularly enjoys burdening pastors, missionaries and leaders with too many things to do so that they don't have enough time to study, pray
                    and prepare.

                    Remember to pray!
Set aside time each day for earnest, sincere prayer!

Pray that God's Word may have "free course"
                    IN you and THROUGH you.

Pray for your brothers and sisters in Christ.
                    Especially pray for your leaders:
pastor, deacon, teacher, Sunday School Director, Music Director, overseas and home missionaries, and denominational leaders.

Pray that "the Word of the Lord may have free
                    course, and be glorified..!"

"Pray without ceasing." (1 Thess 5:17)

                    Love ya!

                      "JESUS the ONLY ANSWER"

Just a note to the public.
If you were annoyed with me posting
about Jesus everyday in 2025, just
know, I will be doing it again in 2026!

                      _______SCRIPTURE____________

                      John 6:47
Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that
believeth on me hath everlasting life.
                      KJV

                      _______THOUGHT______________

The word "believeth" in the verse above
is translated from the Greek pisteuo.
It means to place trust in Jesus.

There is an old song that goes like this:
"Living below in this old sinful world,
                      Hardly a comfort can afford;
Striving alone to face temptation sore,
Where could I go but to the Lord?"

                      Ps. 14:2-3 says,
2 The Lord looked down from heaven upon
the children of men, to see if there were any
that did understand, and seek God.
3 They are all gone aside, they are all together
become filthy: there is none that doeth good,
                      no, not one.

So Jesus came to save us from ourselves!

The truth of living is we are all sinners against
God; but God WANTS us to be saved.
THAT'S why Jesus came to earth and died
                      on the cross.
He died FOR us, in order to OFFER ALL
                      mankind eternal life!

If a person places TOTAL TRUST in Jesus,
                      that person RECEIVES "everlasting life!"
                      FORGIVEN!
                      SAVED!
                      WASHED CLEAN!
                      SANCTIFIED!
                      and JUSTIFIED!

                      JESUS is the ONLY ANSWER!!

The Scripture below is what I pray for
                        people on their birthday;
because they are starting a new year.

25 The Lord make his face shine upon thee,
                        and be gracious unto thee:
26 The Lord lift up his countenance upon
                        thee, and give thee peace.

                        Vs 24
I pray that in 2026, each of you will be
blessed by the Lord JESUS; because you have asked Him to be LORD of your life.

                        Vs 25
I pray that He will pour out His unlimited
love, mercy and grace upon all that you
                        do this coming year.

                        Vs 26
I pray that His loving expression will rule
in your heart, show on your face, and be
                        known by your actions.

On the birthday of 2026, let us look
                        forward to:
                        * Studying the Bible every day;
                        * Praying daily for Him to guide our lives;
                        * Standing confidently in His presence;
                        * And being an expression of His love!

Only when we surrender in humility to
the dignity of Christ as Deity do we
                          find true dignity.

26 For ye see your calling, brethren, how
that not many wise men after the flesh, not
many mighty, not many noble, are called:
27 But God hath chosen the foolish things
of the world to confound the wise; and God
hath chosen the weak things of the world to
                          confound the things which are mighty;
28 And base things of the world, and things
which are despised, hath God chosen, yea,
and things which are not, to bring to nought
                          things that are:
29 That no flesh should glory in his presence.
                          KJV

                          _______THOUGHT______________

Not many who are "mighty, ... noble, are called".
                          WHY!
Because they are more concerned with their dignity than with the DEITY of God!

Concerning verse 27, how does a seed produce a plant?
The scientist and botanist say, "It GERMINATES."
                          Well, HOW?
Scientist want to talk about the warmth of the earth, the fertility of the soil, etc.
But HOW does that make a seed germinate?
                          What?
                          No answer?

The foolish weak things of earth CONFOUND the wise!!

NO flesh will EVER glory of self in the presence of God!!

                          It's not about our dignity!
It's about humility in the presence of Christ
                          as DEITY!

George Orwell famously said, "In an age of
deceit, telling the truth is a revolutionary act."

                            Prov. 20:12-14
12 The wicked desireth the net of evil men:
but the root of the righteous yieldeth fruit.
13 The wicked is snared by the transgression
of his lips: but the just shall come out of trouble.
14 A man shall be satisfied with good by the
fruit of his mouth: and the recompence of a man's hands shall be rendered unto him.
                            KJV

                            _______THOUGHT______________

It is the "root" of a tree that is the strength of it.
When a person has his intentions rooted in Christ, he will yield "fruit" in godliness.

The "just" are those whom GOD has justified.
                            (Romans 3:24-26).
Their ATTENTION is toward God, and their
                            INTENTION is toward godliness.

Justification by God is REFLECTED in words
                            and actions!

We cannot determine if a person is saved, that is God's judgment alone.
But we are supposed to be "fruit inspectors."
((See Jesus' dissertation in Matthew 7:16-20))

The "wicked" are "snared" by evil words and deeds; meaning they are SHOWN or EXPOSED.

The "recompense," or reward of living in godliness, is satisfaction and fulfillment (verse 14).

                              "ALL Day EVERY Day"

On the fourth birthday of her daughter, Mom
took the day off from work.
She took her daughter to the park, then to the
                              zoo.

At lunch, Mom asked her daughter if she
were happy because Mom had taken off for
                              her birthday.

                              The child thought a moment.
Then she said, "We didn't get to go to a
                              movie!"

                              1Thess. 1:1
1 Paul, and Silvanus, and Timotheus, unto the
church of the Thessalonians which is in God
the Father and in the Lord Jesus Christ: Grace
be unto you, and peace, from God our Father,
                              and the Lord Jesus Christ.
                              KJV

                              _______THOUGHT______________

As Christians, we sometimes are like the
                              little girl above.
We recognize more what we are MISSING
                              than what we HAVE!

In the letter to the Thessalonians, Paul
                              mentions what they HAVE:
                              *Grace and peace from God!

When Paul wrote the first letter to the church
in Thessalonica, they were suffering great
                              persecution.
They needed to be REMINDED of what they
                              DO have!

GRACE is the undeserved favor of God, given
to His people because He LOVES them!

PEACE is the result of knowing our sins are
forgiven, and knowing we will spend eternity
                              with God.

We don't DESERVE those things because of
                              our sins!
                              But God GRANTS them anyway!

Let us remember, and thank the Lord, that He
spends TIME with us ALL day, EVERY day!

                              Love ya!
                              Bro. Bruce
