Who we are

ActsSocial is a faith-first Christian social platform operated by Trinity Proximity, Inc., a Texas corporation doing business as ActsSocial. Our mailing address is 6841 Virginia Parkway, Suite 103 Unit 435, McKinney, Texas 75071, United States.

In this Privacy Policy, “we,” “us,” “our,” and “ActsSocial” refer to Trinity Proximity, Inc. d/b/a ActsSocial. “You” refers to anyone who visits actssocial.com or uses any ActsSocial application, including our iOS app, Android app, and related services (collectively, the “Services”).

Quick summary

We want you to know in plain English what we do with your information.

  • We collect the information you give us when you create an account, post content, and use ActsSocial.
  • We use that information to operate the Services, show you the content you ask to see (your feed is interest-based, not ad-driven), send you notifications you have requested, and keep the platform safe.
  • We do not sell your personal information.
  • We do not show third-party advertisements on ActsSocial.
  • We use a small set of analytics services to understand how the platform performs.
  • You can request access, correction, or deletion of your personal information at any time.

The rest of this Privacy Policy explains the details. If you have questions, please contact us at [email protected].

  • Your phone number (used for one-time SMS verification through our service provider Twilio).
  • A password (which we store as a salted hash, never in plain text).
  • An affirmative attestation that you are 18 years of age or older.

ActsSocial does not collect dates of birth at registration.

This information helps us run the Services, troubleshoot problems, and understand usage patterns. The specific cookies and trackers we use on the web are described in our Cookie Policy.

Information from third parties

If you sign in to ActsSocial through a third-party authentication provider, such as Apple Sign In or Google Sign In, we receive basic profile information from that provider, including your name, email address, and a unique identifier. We do not receive your password.

How we use your information

We use the information described above to:

  • Operate and maintain the Services.
  • Authenticate you when you sign in.
  • Personalize your experience using interest-based signals, not behavioral retargeting.
  • Deliver the content, profiles, and prayer requests you have chosen to follow.
  • Send transactional emails (account verification, password reset, notifications you have explicitly subscribed to).
  • Detect and prevent fraud, abuse, harassment, and policy violations.
  • Comply with legal obligations, including mandatory reporting of child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) under 18 U.S.C. § 2258A.
  • Improve the platform through aggregated analytics.
  • Communicate with you about Service updates, security alerts, and changes to this Privacy Policy.

We do not use your information to sell or rent your data to third parties for their independent marketing, to build advertising profiles for use outside ActsSocial, or to target you with behavioral retargeting advertisements on other websites.

Video and audio content and your consent under the Video Privacy Protection Act

Some features of ActsSocial include video and audio content posted by users and ActsSocial (collectively, “Video Content”). When you view Video Content while signed in to your account, we may associate your account identifier with the fact that you viewed that Video Content for purposes of operating the Services, including delivering content you have followed, recommending similar content within ActsSocial, providing playback resume functionality, troubleshooting playback problems, and complying with applicable law.

You are providing your informed, written consent under the Video Privacy Protection Act (18 U.S.C. § 2710) to ActsSocial's collection, use, and disclosure of your Video Content viewing information for the purposes described above and in this Privacy Policy. This consent is given separately and is not bundled with any other consent.

Specifically:

(a) Your consent permits ActsSocial to associate your account identifier with the Video Content you view on the Services.

(b) Your consent permits ActsSocial to disclose this information to our service providers (listed in Section 7.1) solely for the purpose of providing the Services to you, under written agreements that restrict their use of that information.

(c) Your consent does NOT permit ActsSocial to disclose Video Content viewing information to advertisers, social-media platforms, data brokers, or any third party for behavioral advertising or commercial purposes unrelated to operating the Services. ActsSocial does not run third-party advertising pixels on Video Content pages.

(d) Your consent is valid until you withdraw it. You may withdraw consent at any time by emailing [email protected] or by closing your account. Withdrawal of consent will not affect collection or disclosure that occurred before the withdrawal.

Your consent remains in effect for two (2) years from the date you accepted these Terms, or until you withdraw it, whichever is shorter. Continued use of the Services after the two-year period constitutes renewed consent. We will provide a clear and conspicuous renewal notice at least thirty (30) days before the two-year period expires.

How we share your information

Service providers (data processors)

We share information with companies that provide services to us, under written agreements that restrict their use of that information to providing services to ActsSocial:

  • Amazon Web Services (United States): Cloud hosting and media storage.
  • Google (Firebase): Push notifications, crash reporting, performance monitoring, app analytics.
  • Twilio (United States): SMS one-time password delivery for phone verification.
  • Mailgun, AWS SES, and Postmark (United States): Transactional email delivery.
  • Zendesk (United States): Customer support ticket management.
  • Cloudflare (United States): Content delivery network and security.
  • Microsoft Clarity (United States): Web analytics for publicly visible pages only. Prayer content, form inputs, and other sensitive fields are masked from Clarity recordings.
  • Metricool (Spain): Social media attribution and link analytics.
  • Google Maps and Google Places (United States): Map rendering and place search.

Other users

Information you make public on ActsSocial, such as your profile, public posts, public prayer requests, and comments, is visible to other users of the Services. Please be thoughtful about what you share. You can adjust who sees specific content using the privacy controls on each post.

Law enforcement and legal authorities

We may share your information with law enforcement, government agencies, or other authorities when we receive a valid legal demand (court order, search warrant, subpoena, or similar legal process), when we are required to report by law, when we reasonably believe disclosure is necessary to protect against an imminent threat to life, safety, or significant property damage, or when we are pursuing or defending legal claims involving ActsSocial.

Where lawful and practical, we will notify the affected user before disclosing their information so the user has an opportunity to object.

Mandatory CSAM reporting

If ActsSocial detects, discovers, or is notified of apparent child sexual abuse material on the platform, we are required by United States federal law (18 U.S.C. § 2258A) to report it to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) through the CyberTipline. Reports include the content itself, the user account associated with the content, IP addresses, and other available metadata. We preserve associated material for a minimum of 90 days as required by law. There is no opt-out.

Business transfers

If ActsSocial is acquired, merged, or undergoes a corporate transaction, your information may be transferred as part of that transaction. We will notify you of any change in ownership or material change in the use of your personal information.

Aggregated or de-identified information

We may share aggregated or de-identified information (totals, percentages, trends) that does not identify any individual. For example, we may publish statistics about the number of active users or the geographic distribution of churches on the platform.

International data transfers

ActsSocial is operated from the United States, and our infrastructure runs in United States cloud regions. If you access the Services from outside the United States, your information is transferred to, processed in, and stored in the United States.

The United States may not provide the same level of data protection as your home jurisdiction. By using the Services, you consent to this transfer. Where required by law for users in jurisdictions outside the United States, we put in place appropriate safeguards.

Data retention

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active, for as long as necessary to provide the Services, to comply with legal obligations (CSAM preservation, regulatory record-keeping), and to resolve disputes, prevent fraud, and enforce our Terms of Service.

When you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your personal information within 90 days, except for:

  • Information we are required by law to retain, such as records subject to mandatory CSAM preservation.
  • Backups that are overwritten on a normal rotation cycle, typically within 90 days.
  • Aggregated and de-identified information that cannot be linked back to you.

Public posts and content you shared in public spaces on ActsSocial may persist as part of other users' archives or screenshots. We cannot recall content that has been viewed, shared, or archived by others before your deletion request.

Security and trust & safety tools

We use commercially reasonable measures to protect your information, including:

  • HTTPS encryption for all traffic to actssocial.com and the mobile apps.
  • Encryption at rest for our databases and media storage.
  • Access controls that limit which employees can view user data.
  • Logging and monitoring for unusual activity.
  • Regular security review by qualified personnel.

We also use trust and safety tools and analytics services to operate the Services. These tools, including Microsoft Clarity and Google Analytics, are configured to mask sensitive content (prayer requests, direct messages, and any field marked sensitive) at the source, so that sensitive content does not appear in any session recording or analytics event. We do not use these tools for behavioral advertising and do not transmit user-level data to advertising networks.

By using the Services, you provide your express prior consent under the California Invasion of Privacy Act (California Penal Code §§ 631, 632, 638.51), analogous laws of other jurisdictions, and applicable European data protection law (where Services are available), to our use of these tools. You may opt out of non-essential analytics through our Cookie Policy or by emailing [email protected].

No security measure is perfect. If a data breach affects your information, we will notify you as required by applicable law.

Your privacy rights

Subject to applicable law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you.
  • Correct inaccurate information.
  • Delete your account and the personal information associated with it.
  • Object to or restrict certain processing.
  • Receive your data in a portable format.
  • Withdraw consent where we relied on consent.
  • Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority (where applicable).

To exercise these rights, please email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days, or within 45 days where the request is complex and we have notified you of the extension.

California residents (CCPA / CPRA)

If you reside in California, you have additional rights under the California Consumer Privacy Act, as amended by the California Privacy Rights Act:

  • The right to know what personal information we have collected, used, and shared about you in the past 12 months.
  • The right to delete personal information we have collected from you.
  • The right to correct inaccurate personal information.
  • The right to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information.
  • The right to limit use of sensitive personal information.
  • The right to non-discrimination for exercising these rights.

We do not sell personal information for monetary consideration, and we do not engage in cross-context behavioral advertising. ActsSocial does not currently respond to “Do Not Track” browser signals because there is no industry consensus on how to interpret them. We support and honor Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals where technically feasible.

To exercise California rights, email [email protected]. You may also authorize an agent to act on your behalf (we will verify the agent's authorization).

Other state rights

If you reside in Virginia (VCDPA), Colorado (CPA), Connecticut (CTDPA), Utah (UCPA), Texas (TDPSA, effective July 2024), Oregon (OCPA), Montana (MCDPA), Delaware (DPDPA), Iowa (ICDPA), Tennessee (TIPA), Florida (FDBR), Minnesota (CDA), Indiana (CDPA), Nebraska (NDPA), New Hampshire (NHPA), New Jersey (NJDPA), Maryland (MODPA), or another United States state with a comprehensive privacy law, you may also have rights under that law. Email [email protected] to exercise them.

EEA / UK residents

If you reside in the EEA or the UK, you also have rights under the General Data Protection Regulation or the UK GDPR, including the right of access, the right of rectification, the right of erasure, the right to restriction of processing, the right to data portability, the right to object, and rights related to automated decision-making. We do not use automated decision-making that produces legal or similarly significant effects on you.

The legal basis for our processing is described in Section 6. You may lodge a complaint with your national data protection authority. Our EU representative under GDPR Article 27 is to be appointed before EEA availability.

Adult-only platform

ActsSocial is intended for users aged 18 and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. We do not target children with marketing, design features that appeal primarily to children, or partner with services directed to children.

Account creation on ActsSocial requires affirmative attestation that the user is at least 18 years of age. ActsSocial does not collect dates of birth at registration. If we learn that we have collected personal information from a person under 18, we will delete or anonymize that information promptly, except where retention is required by law.

If you believe a person under 18 has an account on ActsSocial, please contact [email protected] so we can investigate and take action. We treat these reports as priority issues.

Geographic restrictions

ActsSocial is not available to users located in the following jurisdictions, due to United States sanctions, security, or operational reasons:

  • Russia
  • China
  • Iran
  • North Korea
  • Cuba
  • Syria

If you attempt to access the Services from these jurisdictions, your access will be blocked.

Bible translations and religious texts

ActsSocial may include Bible texts in translations that are either the Berean Standard Bible (BSB) or texts in the public domain. When you select a Bible passage, view a verse, or share a verse on ActsSocial, that action does not transmit personal information to any Bible publisher, because the texts we use are not under publisher copyright.

This is intentional. It eliminates third-party tracking by Bible publishers, license restrictions, and outside data sharing for our most fundamental religious feature.

Statement of faith

ActsSocial publishes a Statement of Faith that describes the platform's theological foundation, posted at https://www.actssocial.com/values. The Statement of Faith applies to ActsSocial as a company, our employees and contractors with ministerial or theological functions on behalf of the platform, and holders of any verified ministry recognition program.

The Statement of Faith does not apply to general users of the platform. General users are welcome regardless of their religious beliefs, denomination, or lack of any religious belief, provided they follow our Community Guidelines.

Push notifications

If you enable push notifications, you will receive notifications about activity on your account, including mentions, comments, direct messages, prayer responses, and content from people or churches you follow. You can disable push notifications at any time through your device settings.

We send push notifications using Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google) for both iOS and Android. The FCM token is a device identifier used to route notifications to your device. It is not used to track your behavior outside the app.

Email communications

We send transactional emails (such as account verification, password reset, and security alerts) that you cannot opt out of as long as your account is active.

We may also send promotional emails about platform updates, new features, and content we think you might be interested in. You can opt out of these promotional emails at any time using the unsubscribe link in the email, or by updating your communication preferences in your account settings.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will:

  • Update the “Last Updated” date at the top of the Policy.
  • Post the updated Policy at https://www.actssocial.com/privacy.
  • For material changes that affect your rights or how we use your information, notify you by email and through an in-app notice at least 30 days before the changes take effect.

Your continued use of the Services after the effective date of any change constitutes acceptance of the updated Policy. If you do not agree with the updated Policy, you may stop using the Services and delete your account.
