The prayer focus for our Ministry this year is for open doors into more churches. Childhood sexual abuse and domestic violence are not popular topics for guest speakers to teach on, but it is very needed. Statistics show that 25-30% of women and 15% of men were sexually abused by the time they were 18 years old. That means that many people in our churches have been impacted by abuse and when you ad the spouses and children of abuse survivors, the majority of people in our congregations are struggling with these issues and yet we seldom teach what God has to say about abuse.

King Solomon was living a godly life when the Queen of Sheba visited him and said the following words;
II Chronicles 9:5 Then she said to the king: “It was a true report which I heard in my own land about your words and your wisdom. 6 However I did not believe their words until I came and saw with my own eyes; and indeed the half of the greatness of your wisdom was not told me. You exceed the fame of which I heard. 7 Happy are your men and happy are these your servants, who stand continually before you and hear your wisdom! 8 Blessed be the Lord your God, who delighted in you, setting you on His throne to be king for the Lord your God! Because your God has loved Israel, to establish them forever, therefore He made you king over them, to do justice and righteousness.”
And yet after Solomon died, look at what Israel asked his son Rehoboam; 10:4 “Your father made our yoke heavy; now therefore, lighten the burdensome service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you.”
Notice that radical change in how the people around Solomon felt. He had gone from an uplifting, inspirational person to being a tyrant. I Kings gives a more detailed description of how Solomon gradually changed from a godly man into an ungodly person. Driven by lust and idol worship, Solomon’s heart was drawn away from God.
I can’t help but wonder as I hear so many stories of sexual abuse, bullying and manipulation by some of our church leaders, if there is not a similar correlation between them and Solomon.
Do people around us perceive us to be a tyrant or do they see the fruit of the Spirit?
Galatians 5:22-23
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

Happy Thanksgiving. We won’t be doing Bible study tonight but Lord willing will see you next Thursday.
Faith and I have many things to be thankful for this year. We are thankful for you, for your prayers, support and encouragement. We are thankful that God has called us to this ministry to survivors of abuse and to churches dealing with abuse. We are thankful that God has enabled us and provided for us to do Speaking Truth In Love Ministries for 18 years this January. We are so very thankful for each of the precious survivors that we have met over the years and pray for God’s healing and blessing in their lives. We are thankful for the pastors and churches that have opened their hearts and doors for us. We are thankful for each opportunity that God gives us to serve him.
On a personal note, we are so thankful for our precious, special needs granddaughter, Eden. She has spent most of her life in hospitals and facilities. But God answered our prayers and she came home in March and is thriving. She turned 5 November 4th and this will be her first Christmas home with her family. She is still on a respirator at night but is doing well.
May God bless you,
Dale and Faith Ingraham
