Cup of Cold Water Ministries was birthed in 1978 by two ministry workers, Odell and Margaret Kittelson, with a desire to reach the poor and suffering. They were a bit before their time, and their mission board was not thrilled at the prospect of calling meeting physical needs missions. The organization felt the Kittelsons should funnel their energy elsewhere. The Kittelsons believed their work to aid impoverished farmers in Bolivia was indeed vital, so they pressed forward, starting their own non-profit to fund the project, calling it Cup of Cold Water Ministries (CCWM).
