Best known for her influential book Thinking with Type, first published in 2004, Ellen Lupton has shaped the way designers learn and work with typography. Drawing from her years of experience in design education and creative work, Lupton will share perspectives on how designers think about, learn, and work with type. Attendees will gain practical tips, tools, and fresh insights into what it means to fall in love with typography.
Ellen Lupton is a designer, writer, and educator whose books include Thinking with Type, Design Is Storytelling, Graphic Design Thinking, Health Design Thinking, and Extra Bold. She teaches in the Graphic Design MFA program at MICA and is Curator Emerita at Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum in New York City; her exhibitions included Herbert Bayer: Bauhaus Master and The Senses: Design Beyond Vision. She is an AIGA Gold Medalist and a Fellow of the American Academy of Arts & Sciences.
