Get started on your sewing journey! ✨ 🧵 ✂️

Join Cassandra from Laurel Small Batch Goods at the Future Front House for a hands-on workshop.

In this workshop, you will learn the basics of using a sewing machine, including how to wind a bobbin, thread the machine, and set the appropriate settings for the machine.

Once the machine is set up, you will practice sewing a straight line and backstitching to create a patchwork scrunchie as their your project. Then, you'll dive into making your own reusable tote bag using secondhand/upcycled fabric. Students will walk away with 2 finished projects (scrunchie and tote bag) and access to a curated resource list to continue on their sewing journey.

Facilitation is available in both English and Spanish.

This workshop is mostly BYOM (Bring Your Own Machine), but 2 tickets that come with a machine to borrow during the workshop are available! Please choose the appropriate ticket at check out.

Along with the machine, please bring the machine's pedal, accessories, and manual (if available). All other materials, including fabric, will be provided!

Want to take what you learn and sew a top? Consider joining Sewing Club! Please note that the first day of Sewing Club begins the day before this workshop, but no sewing experience is needed for that first day.

Únete a Cassandra de Laurel Small Batch Goods en Future Front House para un taller práctico.

En este taller, aprenderás los fundamentos del uso de una máquina de coser, incluyendo cómo llenar una bobina y enhebrar y configurar la máquina.

Una vez configurada la máquina, practicarás coser en línea recta y hacer pespuntes para crear una dona para el cabello (scrunchie) como tu primer proyecto. Después, te sumergirás en la creación de tu propia bolsa de tela reutilizable con tela de segunda mano/reciclada. Los estudiantes se irán con dos proyectos terminados (scrunchie y bolsa) y acceso a una lista de recursos seleccionados para continuar su aventura con la costura.

La facilitación está disponible tanto en inglés como en español.

Este taller es principalmente TTPM (traiga Tu propia máquina), pero hay dos boletos disponibles que incluyen una máquina para tomar prestada durante el taller. Por favor, elige el boleto adecuado al finalizar la compra. Junto con la máquina, por favor, tray el pedal, los accesorios y el manual (si está disponible). Se proporcionarán todos los demás materiales, incluyendo la tela.
