Join the Hispanic Leaders’ Network for an engaging conversation exploring the powerful and often overlooked role Latinos have played in shaping American democracy.

From neighborhood advocacy and grassroots organizing to public service, voting rights, and civic leadership, Latino communities have long helped influence the policies, institutions, and movements that define our nation. Barrio Visions will highlight these important contributions while creating space to reflect on the continued impact of Latino voices in our communities today.

The event is part of the Hispanic Leaders’ Network Leadership Development Series, Conectar–Connect, which is designed to bring community members together through meaningful conversations that strengthen leadership skills, expand cultural awareness, encourage civic engagement, and build connections among emerging and established leaders.

Presenter: Felipe Hinojosa, Ph. D.

Born in the Rio Grande Valley of South Texas, Dr. Felipe Hinojosa is a leading scholar in Chicana/o and Latina/o Studies, American Religion, Comparative Race and Ethnicity, and Social Movements. His work appears in major journals and national public forums, and he serves on advisory and editorial boards including Latinx Talk, Eerdmans Publishing, Mennonite Church USA, and the Immigration and Ethnic History Society.

He is the author of Latino Mennonites (2014) and Apostles of Change (2021), both award‑winning books, and co-editor of Faith and Power (2022). Dr. Hinojosa is currently writing a new book on the Latinx civil rights movement and its influence on American democracy after World War II.
