Job Summary

We are seeking an Account Executive to join our employee benefits brokerage firm, specializing in alternative funding and cost containment strategies. In this role, you will act as the primary agent for assigned accounts, guiding clients through the full lifecycle of benefits programs, including health insurance and self-funded plans. The Account Executive will manage a book of business, oversee client, employee, and carrier relationships, and ensure plan requirements are met. This role will collaborate closely with consulting teams and direct the work of an assigned account management team, while also overseeing any subordinates.

Responsibilities
  • Manage client, employee, and carrier relationships for assigned accounts
  • Develop benefits program strategies for assigned clients and oversee communication materials, implementation plans, success metrics, and reporting resources for multiyear programs
  • Oversee the preparation, peer review, distribution, and analysis of regular reporting such as loss ratio, high-cost claimants, IBNR, and analysis of annual benchmarking studies
  • Review and analyze claims, loss ratios, high-cost claimants, benchmarking studies, and analytics reporting
  • Lead RFP process including strategy review, proposal analysis, and carrier negotiations
  • Provide underwriting services and renewal analyses for self-funded plans
  • Oversee plan decisions, confirmations, and new carrier implementations
  • Maintain knowledge of and oversee the completion of all client compliance requirements
  • Act as strategic partner for clients and collaborate with consulting teams on renewal strategies
  • Conduct regular service meetings with clients and communicate deliverable timing expectations, financial ramifications, and regulatory compliance
  • Analyze financial data and reporting regarding the financial and budgetary restrictions and conditions of applicable benefit programs
  • Guide and support assigned service team members through regular meetings and task delegation
Qualifications
  • Industry experience in employee benefits, health insurance, or HR
  • Strong communication and listening skills with grace, humility, and respect
  • Proven ability to build and maintain relationships with sincerity and intentionality
  • Driven to achieve personal and professional goals in order to increase knowledge, experience, responsibility, and impact
  • Collaborative and respectful team contributor who encourages other perspectives and ideas

  • Solid understanding of role responsibilities and ability to maintain knowledge and skills
  • Excellent organizational habits and time management

  • Expert level use of MS Excel, in depth familiarity with formulas and extensive use of pivot tables
Requirements
  • Microsoft ExcelExcellent - Strong
  • California Department of Insurance Life & Health License (or state of residence if outside CA)
  • Associate's Degree
  • Human Resources, Carrier or Employee benefits experience4 - 7 years
  • Insurance industry background or knowledge of group products
Nice to Have
  • Bachelor's Degree
  • Employee Benefits related designations (CEBS, PHR, etc.)
  • Experience with Self-funded Medical plans
