- **Summary of Position**
Perform or have general working knowledge of the essential duties of a Career Specialist working with retiring/transitioning service members or military spouses for CECT Workforce Solutions, LLC as outlined by the attached job description. ***Additionally, a Career Specialist must also perform all duties related to the intake, assessment, facilitation, career counseling, and/or training functions as outlined below, satisfactorily.***
CS Additional Requirements
Must have Dyess Air Force Base access. - Interview Recently Separated Veterans (RSV's), Transitioning Service Members (TSM's), or military spouses in an articulate and professional manner to assess and record information regarding training needs, education, experience, skills, interest and other relevant factors to fully explore clients' career development opportunities and to provide information regarding programs.
- Develop, implement, and maintain employment strategy for each RSV, TSM, or spouse to assist in establishing self- sufficient goals.
- Develop a plan to coordinate available resources including referral to other agencies and businesses to attain desired goals.
- Maintain a caseload and provide a broad range of case management services including maintaining proper documentation, monitoring of eligibility, customer activity tracking and reporting, conciliation and sanctions (if applicable) conducting staffing as needed with co-case managers as appropriate.
- Performs data entry of applicant activity in Work in Texas (WIT) database, including employment outcomes, in a timely manner and as required by policies and procedures.
- Process work applications, support services, and provide job referrals.
- Provide resume creation guidance and assistance, interview coaching and professional branding support.
- Deliver presentations as assigned including Workforce Orientations Applicants, Employment Planning Sessions, job readiness classes and general orientation to program(s) for participants.
- Host veteran-focused job fairs and networking events that provide opportunity for direct engagement with employers committed to hiring veterans and military spouses.
- Maintain community outreach with partner agencies, local chambers, spouse clubs, and family support networks.
- May attend off-site workshops, or training seminars and training to maintain current knowledge of the services, rules and regulations to ensure compliance with federal, state and local directives, rules and regulations.
- Prepare correspondence, reports and other written material.
- May also conduct home visits to participants' place of residence as necessary.
- Regular and consistent attendance is required.
- Perform other duties as assigned; based on operational needs.
Required Education And/or Experience
Bachelor's Degree in related field from an accredited college or university preferred.- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- One year of related experience preferred.
- Related experience is defined as experience in direct social work in the area of instruction, classroom teaching or in workforce development programs.
- Working knowledge of computer software programs (Word and Excel) is required.
- Experience in workforce development programs is highly desirable.
- Prior experience in resume creation, event coordination, social media management, or professional online networking highly desired.
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) beneficial; but not required.
- Valid driver's license and proof of liability insurance are required.
Physical Requirements
Sitting, twisting upper body, bending, ability to lift and carry up to 25 lbs.- Normal manual dexterity requirements - ability to perform activities requiring limited manual dexterity on a routine and regular basis, such as word processing/key entry, calculat r usage, handwriting (completing messages, forms and other documents), filing, mail processing and telephone usage.
- Normal ambulatory requirements - ability to move in and around personal workspace AND to and from other areas of the office or the building with or without wheelchair or other aid to attend meetings, deliver/retrieve materials, conduct interviews, escort clients, or other activities outside of personal workspace.
- Normal or corrected reading vision required - ability to read with attention to details such as frequent use of cathode ray tube (CRT) or personal computer (PC).
- Normal or corrected hearing required - ability to hear and understand speech to interact with co-workers/clients/customers on a routine or frequent basis with or without use of amplifying equipment/hearing aids.
Mental Requirements
Normal cognitive requirements - ability to learn, remember and integrate rules, policies or practices guiding the performance of an activity.- Normal speech-communication requirements - ability to communicate verbally with clients/customers in individual or group settings to gather information and/or explain policies/procedures in a courteous, precise, comprehensible manner.
- Normal written communications required - ability to routinely read, interpret and compose correspondence/ reports/documents/policies/procedures, conduct interviews and record information, or prepare other lengthy documents using handwritten or mechanical means.
**Equipment Use**
Duties require the use of a computer with word processing, spreadsheet, presentation and database software programs, keyboard, printer, calculator, telephone, copier, and fax machine. The use of a personal vehicle may be required.
**Supervisory Responsibilities**
This position does not have supervisory responsibilities.
**Working Conditions**
Normal travel required. Must possess valid driver's license and current automobile liability insurance. May be required to travel frequently for activities in normal conditions. Travel to an itinerant point/company location/work site to perform services. Office lighting and temperature are adequate with moderate noise level.
