      • On-Site Interior Designer

Travel to Various US Locations | Somerled Designs | Contract (1099, Per Project Basis)

Must reside within close proximity to a major airport

        About Us

Somerled Designs is an interior design firm specializing in data-driven design for short-term rentals, such as Airbnb, VRBO, boutique hotels, and vacation rentals. We aim to ensure the long-term success of our clients' investment properties through research-informed design strategies. Our primary target audience includes short-term rental investors.

This role reports to the Onsite Design Manager and falls under the Design Department, where we ensure each project is executed with excellence from design to delivery.

        Job Overview

We are looking for a hands-on, highly adaptable On-Site Interior Designer to join our team on a contract basis. This role is perfect for someone who loves fast-paced environments, thrives on travel, and has experience bringing interior design visions to life in real-time. You’ll collaborate closely with project and design managers to ensure every space is beautifully installed, photo-ready, and aligned with the Somerled aesthetic and standards.

        Key Responsibilities

Collaborate with the Onsite Design Manager before each project to reselect out-of-stock items, implement client-requested edits, and finalize documentation.
      • Participate in internal prep meetings with the Onsite Design Manager and Project Manager to align on logistics and design execution.
      • Travel nationwide to install short-term rental properties, bringing Somerled’s design vision to life on-site.
      • Oversee the on-site execution of the design plan, ensuring every detail aligns with the original concept.
      • Make on-the-spot styling decisions and source last-minute accessories as needed to complete the design.
      • Follow Somerled’s styling and staging checklist to ensure a consistent and detail-oriented finish across all projects.
      • Direct and coordinate with local assistants and subcontractors (e.g., furniture builders, electricians, art installers) during installations.
      • Maintain close communication with the Onsite Design Manager throughout the install by sending progress photos, video calling, and implementing feedback in real time.
      • Conduct product audits during installs and report back on items that worked well or should be avoided in future projects.
      • Style and stage the property for professional photography, including steaming bedding, fluffing pillows, and perfecting final details.
      • Assist in managing and directing the photoshoot for interior, exterior, and lifestyle imagery.
      • Follow Somerled’s Photography Guide to support optimal photo capture and brand consistency.
      • Capture informal photo and video content using your phone throughout the install process for social media and marketing use.

      Requirements

Proven experience in interior design installation, staging, or model home set-ups.
    • Must reside near a major airport and be able to travel frequently.
    • In-depth understanding of Airbnb and STR interior design standards.
    • Comfortable managing installations on-site with limited oversight.
    • Ability to lift and move décor and furnishings as part of install duties.
    • Strong communication, time management, and problem-solving skills.

Why You’ll Love Working with Us

At Somerled, we value creativity, initiative, and the power of exceptional design. We offer:

$250/day rate for on-site installation days.
  • $25/hour for remote pre-install design coordination.
  • Standard travel stipend to cover airfare, lodging, food, and transport (designer books travel directly).
  • The opportunity to travel across the country and work on high-visibility, beautifully curated design projects.
  • A collaborative, fast-moving culture where your eye for detail and creativity can shine.
