ABOUT THE ROLE
We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented PR Associate to support our public relations team. This role is ideal for someone who is passionate about storytelling, media relations, and brand reputation. The PR Associate will assist in executing PR strategies, managing media outreach, media scheduling, and supporting day-to-day communications initiatives that strengthen brand awareness.
The PR Associate will support the execution of BRAVE Books’ public relations efforts, helping secure media coverage that advances our mission and amplifies our authors and brand. This role is ideal for a highly organized, proactive self-starter who thrives in a fast-paced, in-office environment.
You’ll assist with media pitching, outreach, scheduling, research, and reporting—working closely with the PR and partnerships team to drive visibility across TV, podcasts, radio, and digital media. Strong attention to detail, follow-through, and clear communication are essential, as this role involves real responsibility and direct interaction with media and talent.
This is a hands-on opportunity to build foundational PR skills while making a meaningful impact at a growing, mission-driven company.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Support the development and execution of PR campaigns and media strategies.
- Develop and implement strategic media pitches for BRAVE Books authors and
partners, securing high-impact guest appearances across TV, radio, podcasts, and
online media
- Reach out to media for booking and follow-up to secure coverage
- Work with the social media team to ensure media interviews are maximized
- Track media coverage and prepare reports and summaries
- Coordinate logistics for interviews, events, and press opportunities
- Draft outreach lists, talking points, and media kits for Talent
- Conduct research on new, relevant media outlets and opportunities to expand our reach within faith-based and family-friendly channels
- Monitor news and trends relevant to the brand
- Support crisis communications and rapid-response efforts when needed
- Provide “outside of the box” ideas to advance the brand through PR
QUALIFICATIONS & COMPETENCIES
- Bachelor’s degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, or a related field
- Preferred experience in PR, communications, or a related role (internships included)
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously
- Professional, proactive, and comfortable communicating with internal teams and external partners
- Creative thinker with the ability to develop fresh ideas and approach challenges from new or unconventional perspectives
- Clear and professional written and verbal communication skills
PREFERRED SKILLS & EXPERIENCE
- Experience pitching to media or influencers
- Basic understanding of brand messaging and positioning
- Familiarity with social media platforms
- Interest in the children’s entertainment and publishing space
