Description
: Curates, produces, and distributes various marketing efforts that communicate the brand and story of the Health Department. Can strategize for, implement, and evaluate marketing efforts across platforms and tools based on department-wide goals and objectives. Collaborates with team members inside and outside of the department.
: - Create digital and physical marketing materials from conception to finished product including layout, design, and writing content;
- Coordinate promotional materials for community center and large community events across online and in-person sources;
- Write and edit news releases, email marketing campaigns, social media content, website content, and a variety of other written communications;
- Write, edit, and design content for the City of Lubbock's social media sites and monitor city department social media sites;
- Analyze data from a variety of communication tools, including social media sites and the city website;
- Shoot still photographs and/or videos of events and individuals or groups, either in studio or on location;
- Serve as public information contact for the media when the department manager is unavailable;
- Perform other duties as assigned.
: Bachelor's degree in mass communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field with an additional one year or more experience in public affairs, media relations, marketing, social media, and graphic design; or any combination of relevant education and experience.
Must be available to rotate on-call
Able to come in early or stay late if needed

- Photography and Videography;
- Print, Broadcast, and Online Media.
Ability/Skill
- Utilize computer and software programs, specifically Canva;
- Strong command of social media platforms;
- Strong oral, written, and proofreading skills;
- Attention to detail;
- Identify communication needs and develop strategies, methods, and tools;
- Plan, organize, implement, and prioritize a variety of tasks;
- Work under deadlines and stressful situations with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities;
- Communicate clearly in order to present information and convey issues and complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences;
- Work effectively both in solo and team environments;
- Comfort taking pictures and videos of people at city events, classes, programs;
- Proactive and diligent approach in a working environment;
- Manage and analyze data.
Physical Requirements
- Occasionally stand, walk and bend during the shift;
- Frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds;
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
- Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees;
- Place arms above, at or below shoulder height.
