Public Relations Coordinator

Description

: Curates, produces, and distributes various marketing efforts that communicate the brand and story of the Health Department. Can strategize for, implement, and evaluate marketing efforts across platforms and tools based on department-wide goals and objectives. Collaborates with team members inside and outside of the department.

: - Create digital and physical marketing materials from conception to finished product including layout, design, and writing content;


  • Coordinate promotional materials for community center and large community events across online and in-person sources;
  • Write and edit news releases, email marketing campaigns, social media content, website content, and a variety of other written communications;
  • Write, edit, and design content for the City of Lubbock's social media sites and monitor city department social media sites;
  • Analyze data from a variety of communication tools, including social media sites and the city website;
  • Shoot still photographs and/or videos of events and individuals or groups, either in studio or on location;
  • Serve as public information contact for the media when the department manager is unavailable;
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

: Bachelor's degree in mass communications, marketing, public relations, or a related field with an additional one year or more experience in public affairs, media relations, marketing, social media, and graphic design; or any combination of relevant education and experience.

Must be available to rotate on-call

Able to come in early or stay late if needed

  • Photography and Videography;
  • Print, Broadcast, and Online Media.

Ability/Skill


  • Utilize computer and software programs, specifically Canva;
  • Strong command of social media platforms;
  • Strong oral, written, and proofreading skills;
  • Attention to detail;
  • Identify communication needs and develop strategies, methods, and tools;
  • Plan, organize, implement, and prioritize a variety of tasks;
  • Work under deadlines and stressful situations with frequent interruptions and changes in priorities;
  • Communicate clearly in order to present information and convey issues and complex information to both technical and non-technical audiences;
  • Work effectively both in solo and team environments;
  • Comfort taking pictures and videos of people at city events, classes, programs;
  • Proactive and diligent approach in a working environment;
  • Manage and analyze data.

Physical Requirements


  • Occasionally stand, walk and bend during the shift;
  • Frequently lift and carry up to 10 pounds;
  • Occasionally lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
  • Occasionally flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially flex at the knees;
  • Place arms above, at or below shoulder height.
