        • Job Title: Technical Illustrator – MIL-STD / IETM Support

          Location: Remote | Travel as Required

          Clearance: Government Security Clearance Eligibility Required

          Employment Type: Full-Time

          Position Summary

          We are seeking a highly skilled Technical Illustrators with 6 years of specialized experience creating detailed digital illustrations for defense-related technical manuals, and training products. This individual will be responsible for producing new and modified line-art illustrations that comply with MIL-STD-40051-2C, supporting both printed and Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETMs). The ideal candidate will work closely with engineers, technical writers, and logisticians to generate technically accurate, standards-compliant graphics that align with maintenance group breakdowns and support RPSTL (Repair Parts and Special Tools List) development.

          Key Responsibilities

          Develop original technical illustrations and line art in Creo based on CAD models, engineering drawings, and SME input.
        • Modify and enhance government-furnished and commercial images to meet military illustration standards.
        • Produce exploded views, cutaways, schematics, and orthographic projections for Operator and Maintainer-level manuals.
        • Ensure all graphics meet the format, labeling, and callout requirements of MIL-STD-40051-2C.
        • Integrate illustrations into IETM structures in coordination with technical writers and content developers.
        • Translate complex assemblies into easily understood graphics that align with maintenance procedures and RPSTL entries.
        • Generate illustrations that support both print and digital delivery formats.

        Required Qualifications

        Possess or be eligible for government clearance.
      • Bachelor’s degree in graphic design, Technical Illustration, or related discipline; equivalent military or industry experience considered.
      • Minimum 6 years of experience producing technical illustrations in a DoD or aerospace/defense environment.
      • Proficiency in Creo and/or similar CAD software creating detailed digital illustrations.
      • Proficiency with Adobe Illustrator and/or similar software for creating detailed line art and exploded views.
      • Experience sourcing and referencing 3D models from CREO or similar CAD platforms for accurate illustration generation.
      • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and diagramming tools (e.g., Visio, Lucidchart ) for creating layouts and flow diagrams.
      • Knowledge of IETM structure and how illustrations support MIL-STD and S1000D content.
      • Familiarity with RPSTL and maintenance group breakdowns for illustration alignment.
      • Ability to meet tight deadlines in a collaborative, high-security environment.

      Preferred Qualifications

      Experience with illustration support for MIL-STD-40051, S1000D, or similar military data formats.
    • Familiarity with XML and illustration integration into CDMS platforms (e.g., notus , Contenta , R4i).
    • Experience working with defense logistics teams or OEMs.
    • Understanding of Interactive Multimedia Instruction (IMI) and SCORM graphics requirements.

    Some work may be performed in secure facilities or require travel to customer or military sites. Candidate must:
  • comply with all applicable security and export regulations.
  • have the ability to meet Army Conus Replacement Center (CRC) MOD-17 medical requirements for deployment.
