Often I am asked, "What is GCD? What do you do?" My standard answer usually revolves around our publications; online articles and books. Yet, I also enjoy telling the curious about the writers and editors on our staff team, and the developing writers who have gone through our coaching cohorts over the past few years. Gospel Centered Discipleship has become more than a website, blog, or publishing organization. It's a community of people in process, growing and developing to be more like Jesus, think more like Jesus, and share more about Jesus.
As the year concludes, I am encouraged and blessed by the people who have contributed in large and small ways to the spiritual formation and growth of people far and wide through our resources and writers. Our Managing Editor, Matt Boga, has curated and shepherded a host of articles that have brought about our most-read year ever. His wisdom and management of our editorial team and writers is of the highest caliber and a gift to every writer that contributes to GCD.
As I said, GCD this year had more online traffic than ever before. Our books were distributed worldwide and served to help develop leaders in every continent. This reach is all grace from the Lord.
Here's a snapshot of our 2025 book releases and our most-read articles:
New GCD Books in 2025
The Nehemiah Way, by Dr. John Wilson and Amy Lynch
Every church I know of is always recruiting and asking members to serve in various capacities. There's always more needs and not enough people to fill those needs. In The Nehemiah Way, Wilson and Lynch give a practical and proven pattern for identifying, equipping, and mobilizing volunteer leadership in the church. This resource is an excellent tool to enhance your leadership and equip your church to grow in ministry ahead.
Broken But Beautiful, edited by Benjamin Vrbicek with contributions from GCD Writers and friends
In recent years, the church has been portrayed as a bad actor by our culture. When scandal, betrayal, and hypocrisy are evident, the church loses credibility and distinction as an influence in a community. This volume, edited by Benjamin Vrbicek with contributions from GCD staff writers, seeks to highlight the good, beautiful, and true of the local church once again.
Jubilee: Much More Than a Holy Year, by Leonardo De Chirico
Following tradition, Pope Francis declared 2025 a Holy Year for the Roman Catholic Church. As a result, millions of Roman Catholic adherents traveled to Rome to walk through the sacred doors of the major arch basilicas, seeking to obtain special indulgences for the forgiveness of sin. In Jubilee, De Chirico, an Italian evangelical pastor and scholar, contrasts the Biblical intent and purpose of a year of jubilee with the Roman Catholic tradition and invites readers to consider where they are placing their hope.
Most Read Articles Written in 2025
If you were only able to read five articles this year, these would be the ones to read. I find these especially helpful for pastors and Christian leaders as we do the work of shepherding the church. There is a unique timeliness to these articles as well, as several speak to current dynamics in mental health and spiritual formation. Discipleship is a whole-person, embodied reality.

Cohorts and Community for Writers
In the last few years, GCD has developed a coaching platform to help develop writers. We've worked closely with over one hundred writers to help them develop their skills, voice, and writing craft, which is seeing fruit in various ways. Several of the writers who have been through our writers' cohort have earned book contracts and been published through some excellent Christian publishers. In 2026, we plan to host another summer of our book proposal cohort, and in the fall we will embark on another season of the writers' cohort.
Furthermore, we host a social community (the GCD Writers' Guild) for anyone who wants to connect with other writers. This community hosts members-only forums with noted Christian writers, as well as offering encouragement, resources, and friendship for anyone interested in putting words on the page.
Into 2026
In the new year, you can expect GCD to continue publishing helpful articles every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. Additionally, Substack readers can now get our articles directly emailed to them on Tuesday and Thursday.
We have a few great books slated to release this year (including a new edition of Tony Merida's Church Planter coming Friday). We're also building a new coaching cohort for preachers starting in January.
Our goal in 2026 is to continue to provide resources for discipleship that "make, mature, and multiply disciples of Jesus" through our written content and community. If you'd like to contribute to our resources, or connect with our team, we'd love to hear from you this next year.
