God: Past, Present, and Future

Psalm 111 says, “How amazing are the deeds of the Lord! All who delight in him should ponder them” (Psalm 111:2, NLT). Experts say the best predictor of future behavior is past behavior. That means our God, who does not change, has revealed a lot about what we can expect from Him in the future in His Word.

He provided manna to feed His people in the wilderness, and their clothes and shoes didn’t wear out (See Exodus 16:4, Deuteronomy 29:5)!

He sent a prophet to a poor widow and provided a never-ending supply of food (1 Kings 17:7-16).

He fed 5,000 people with just two loaves and a few fish (Luke 9:12-17).

He sent ravens to feed the prophet Elijah (I Kings 17:6) and provided a place of shelter and rest for the prophet Jonah (Jonah 4:6).

Saul constantly pursued David, who would soon be king and replace him. King Saul wanted to kill David, but God protected him and actually delivered Saul into David’s hands (1 Samuel 24:1-4).

When the Egyptians pursued God’s people, He opened the sea for them to walk across and then drowned every one of their enemies (Exodus 14:27-29)!

A woman found healing just by touching the hem of Jesus’ robe (Mark 5:28-29).

He caused a blind man to see (John 9:1-7) and raised Lazarus from the dead (John 11:38-44).

He spoke a word and healed the servant of a military leader (Matthew 8:5-13).

Leprosy was no match for Him (Matthew 8:3), and in the Old Testament, He healed King Hezekiah and added 15 years to his life—because that’s what he asked for (2 Kings 20:5-6)!

John 15:13 says, "There is no greater love than to lay down one’s life for one’s friends."

Jesus did that and much more. It began with the incredible choice to leave a perfect heaven to come here—and He came as a baby! The Almighty One chose to leave heaven and become helpless.

He was tortured and ridiculed, and He took our sin upon Himself. The Bible says He became sin for you and me (2 Corinthians  5:21).

Romans 8:32 says, “Since he did not spare even his own Son but gave Him up for us all, won’t He also give us everything else?"

So, what do you need today? Healing? Financial provision, wisdom, protection, or peace? Take a moment now and ask Him for what you need with confidence that the God who does not change will hear you and meet your every need according to His perfect will.
