Days after his commercial flight to a business conference was delayed by more than 10 hours, Hank Kunneman, senior pastor of Lord of Hosts Church in Omaha, Nebraska, and founder of One Voice Ministries, invited his congregants to support a travel fund that he can use to cover the cost of a jet if it becomes feasible.
“I want to start a travel the world fund. And I want to speak to those of you that are watching also around the world. I am gonna ask for your help, and you can give whatever you want,” Kunneman told his congregants on Sunday.
“I can't afford with my schedule and what I'm doing, to be your pastor here, …. to fight alongside with God, to fight for your children alongside of you, to fight for this country alongside of you, to be stuck in an airport somewhere, and be gone for three, four days. Or not get back for Sunday,” he said.
Kunneman, who is also a prominent guest on the Christian news commentary program “Flashpoint,” said it was difficult for him to continue all the work God has appointed him to do while dealing with long lines and messy airlines.
He said he was headed to Boise, Idaho, when his flight got delayed last Thursday. Since he needed to be at the meeting, Kunneman said he made the sacrifice to charter a private jet despite the expense.
“Because I am so dedicated to God, and I am so dedicated to you, the people, and I am dedicated to the United States of America to fight for it, I said, Brenda, I feel like I'm supposed to be there at all costs,” Kunneman said he told his wife and ministry partner.

“I know we're paying a lot of money here, but, Brenda, I am pressed. You know, where the Bible says Jesus was pressed to go to Jerusalem. I felt pressed that I have to do this. I don't need another thing to do. That's not why I do it. It's because I'm trying to be obedient alongside of you and with you. And if you know me, there's no quit in me,” he added.
While he didn’t appear fully committed to acquiring a private jet for his ministry, Kunneman appeared committed to avoid commercial air travel with his new travel fund. He said he asked God for a Scripture to share with his followers and the Lord directed him to Mark 3:9, which says: “Because of the crowd, he told his disciples to have a small boat ready for him, to keep the people from crowding him.”
“So even Jesus was concerned about going to certain ports and airports and things. He had to have smarts because of where his ministry was at and how it affected people, and how it affected him as a vessel,” Kunneman reasoned.
Prior to starting his travel fund, Kunneman said, many people had prophesied that his ministry is “supposed to get their own jet” but he always worried about the expense.
Among those prophesying, according to Kunneman’s wife Brenda, was Texas televangelist Kenneth Copeland of Kenneth Copeland Ministries, who is well known for his private jets.
“I want to tell him about what something brother Copeland said. It's so important. Now, we have flown some charter flights before, but it is expensive, and so pastor is frugal, so then he's like, Well, I'd rather take this commercial, it costs a lot. And we tried to go back to doing that, but Brother Copeland had given us a word,” Brenda Kunneman recalled, noting that the Copeland prophecy happened right before the COVID-19 pandemic began.
“We were having lunch, and he stands up, you know, how Brother Copeland is, … and he's got that gruff voice. He goes, Hey, …. I'm gonna tell you something. And he stands up and points his finger. You know, when Brother Copeland points his finger, you better listen, right? And he said, ‘Your days of flying commercial are over,’” she continued as her husband recalled feeling the Spirit of God on the words.
“But, you know, then we're like, Well, how do we do that, Lord? Well, chartering is a step toward owning a plane. And so what we want to do is keep pastor on the private jet as much as we can,” she told the congregants.
“I believe that. I'm gonna start believing for it actively. I need you back here on Sunday. I didn't want you stuck in an airport Saturday and miss today's service,” she added to her husband. “I don't want him going commercial.”
