In an interview clip thatâs circulating on social media, pop singer Michael BublĂ© said true wealth doesnât come from material possessions but from deep faith and close family ties.
âRich isnât what you think it is, kid,â he said. âThat word, ârich,â that your friends use â rich, it sounds like money, and stuff, and things, and Lamborghinis, and tickets to go see Messi. Thatâs not rich.â
The âCrazy Loveâ singer-songwriter continued, âRich is having a strong faith. Rich is having a great family and loving your family. Rich is having great friendships. Because those ârichâ things theyâre talking about â the money â the people that I know that have the most stuff are the most miserable people that I know. And I donât know how else to explain it, you know.â

BublĂ© said on the âDiary of a CEOâ podcast with Steven Bartlett that he understands critics might say itâs âeasyâ for someone like him â an entertainer with a multi-million-dollar net worth â to say true wealth canât be found in money and materialism.
âBut it doesnât take long to realize that life has nothing to do with stuff,â he said. âWeâre all sitting on that deathbed. Weâre all gonna die â every single one of us. And nobody looks back and says, â[Expletive], I wish Iâd collected more stuff.'â
Content warning: Bublé does use occasional expletives in this interview.
BublĂ©âs comments about faith come years after his then-three-year-old son Noah was diagnosed with liver cancer â an earth-shattering development that pulled the recording artist off the road and away from his career for a time.
While the singerâs son has remained cancer free in the years since, BublĂ© told Bartlett he will âneverâ be carefree again and admitted that, in that season of crisis, he realized, âI donât think I had my priorities straight.â
While BublĂ©âs advice is certainly salient, itâs important to note he doesnât explicitly identify as Christian.
During a 2023 interview with The Guardian, he said, âI wouldnât call myself a God-fearing Christian. I wouldnât classify myself as a religious person. I am not afraid of it. I have a really wonderful and personal relationship with my faith. But itâs not a heavy thing, Iâm just not that guy. I donât want to pretend that I am.â
