Sadie Robertson Huff has praised God after a frightening incident in which her infant daughter choked, but said she is still grappling with anxiety in the aftermath of the traumatic ordeal.

In an Instagram post, the 28-year-old “Duck Dynasty” star and author shared how her youngest daughter, Kit, who was born in August, suddenly began choking while sitting in her high chair during dinner preparation.

“Within seconds, you could tell the severity of the situation,” Robertson Huff wrote, adding that her mother quickly pulled the child from the chair and placed her in her arms “just as she stopped breathing.”

The Live Original author said her family immediately sprang into action and began to pray.

“Mom called 911, I started CPR, and everyone began to pray out loud,” she said.

Robertson Huff, who said she had previously watched videos on how to respond in emergencies, credited both preparation and her faith for saving her daughter’s life.

“I can only explain it now like my body just knew what to do,” she wrote. “I felt God’s Spirit guiding me … I remember saying out loud, ‘what do I do?’ and then immediately started doing it and declaring life.”

After performing CPR and following choking-response protocols, Kit “miraculously coughed and began to breathe” just as paramedics arrived, she said.

The family spent the night in the hospital for observation, but Robertson Huff said her daughter quickly recovered and is now “perfectly healthy, happy, and brightening everyone’s day.”

Still, the reality of the near tragedy has lingered, the podcast host said, encouraging others to be prepared for unexpected situations.

“I’m currently walking through the waves of anxiety from the trauma of the situation,” she said, while also expressing “immense gratitude” for what she described as God’s intervention.

“It happened so fast,” she wrote. “Preparation and knowledge in the spiritual and physical sense can be a gift that you can give yourself and your family.”

The reality star added that her husband, Christian, drove behind her as she rode with her daughter in an ambulance, and shared that there was a rainbow over the vehicles “the whole way there.”

She also urged followers not to live in fear, but to trust God, adding His hand was “undeniably” on the situation.

“We know that God has our children in His hands,” she wrote. “We can’t live in a state of fear … we have to trust God in all of it. ... Please join us in thanking God for this miracle!”

The post drew an outpouring of support, with author Rebekah Lyons commenting, “Thank you Jesus for rescuing Kit and giving Sadie perfect recall of all she’s learned.” Ministry leader Jennie Allen wrote, “So wildly proud of you and so grateful to God with you!”

In addition to Kit, the Huffs are also parents to Haven, 2, and Honey, 4.

In a March interview with The Christian Post, Robertson Huff shared how parenthood has changed her perspective on life and ministry.

She said that early in her parenting journey, she wrestled with whether to step back from vocational ministry. She said she felt encouraged by God’s words in Exodus 3:6: “I am the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob.”

“It reminded me that He’s the God of generations,” she said. “When He was with Abraham, He was thinking of Isaac. And I cling to that: although I have a path God’s called me on, my family is a part of that.”

She added that as her daughters grow and watch her family’s story on TV, they see God’s faithfulness.

“I hope the most important thing they see is our love for Jesus and how to share about Jesus,” she said. “That’s something we just do so naturally in our home. It’s the overflow of who we are.”

“Faith, family, whatever else,” she said. “That’s not just something you say, but something you deeply live by.”
