On a night that will be etched in the history of sports and faith, the Venezuelan national team won its first World Baseball Classic title by defeating the United States 3-2. But this triumph stands out for the profound spiritual testimony of a team that put its trust in God from day one.
From the pre-tournament preparations, the Venezuelan national baseball team demonstrated that its greatest strength lay not only in the power of its bats, but also in hearts surrendered to God.
Before the tournament began, a video of all-star third baseman and designated hitter Eugenio Suárez leading a prayer with his teammates went viral on social media, demonstrating an unwavering spiritual connection.

This expression of faith was not isolated in the tournament, as other Caribbean teams, such as the Dominican Republic, also impacted the world by kneeling to pray and thank God for their participation, remembering that "it is your work, it is your grace."
Venezuela's path to the championship game on Tuesday was not without its challenges, and the decisive game at LoanDepot Park in Miami was a true battle. During the first half of the game, Venezuelan starting pitcher Eduardo Rodríguez dominated from the mound, keeping the powerful U.S. offense off balance for more than four innings.
The score tipped in favor of the Venezuelans when outfielder Wilyer Abreu hit a solo home run in the fifth inning, extending the lead to 2-0.
Just a few outs away from victory, in the eighth inning, U.S. first baseman Bryce Harper hit a two-run home run that dramatically tied the game 2-2, reigniting the tension in the stadium.
In the top of the ninth inning, Suárez — the same man who had gone viral for leading his teammates in prayer — became a hero.
With a timely double, Suárez drove in his teammate Luis Arráez to score the winning run and take a 3-2 lead. The Venezuelan team closed out the game, sealing their victory with a dramatic strikeout of outfielder Roman Anthony for the third out.
"God is good," Suarez said after the game. "All the glory is for the Lord. Jesus, He was with us the whole time. We have to glorify, put His name in front of everything. Nobody believed in Venezuela, but now we win the championship."
